I also use SyncToy (version 2.1) on both 64bit systems and am yet to encounter a problem on either. Works well though and isn't overly expensive.Ģ. I use the FastPictureViewer codec if I need to view thumbnails of my CR2 files outside LR on my 64bit Win7 systems - it used to be donationware but is now a pay utility.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this, or suggestions for other simple sync programs that allow manual control of the back-up and sync process?ġ. From the Microsoft website this seems to be a known problem. I have verified that drive permissions are correct and that I can create and overwrite files on the external drives using other programs.

(The 32 bit version on the laptop works fine.) It gives error messages indicating that it is unable to overwrite certain folders/files and is not able to create new folders, but it does overwrite some files.

Microsoft provides a 64 bit version of SyncToy for Windows 7, but I have not been able to make it work.
I don't like automated back-up programs, I need to control when the back-ups occur. This has been a great, simple program for my workflow because it let's me choose which folders and when to back up and still provided a "synced" process. My workflow has been to work images in LR2.7 from an internal harddrive and then when timely, to back up the internal hard drive files to two external hard drives using Microsoft SyncToy. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to be able to view NEF thumbnails in 64 bit Windows Explorer?Ģ. The Nikon provided NEF CODEC to allow viewing of NEF thumbnails in Windows Explorer does not work on the 64 bit desktop, while it works well on the 32 bit laptop. However, I've run into 2 issues on the desktop that I have not been able to find solutions for.ġ. Thanks to Victoria's excellent instructions, the installation of LR2.7 and transfer of files went very smooth.
